The heterogeneity of programs that make up the generic city continue to cross-pollinate with one another. While this "diverse" organism contnues to grow in complexuty, its replication produces a bland field of chaos and loudness. Space and true contrast is necessary not only to maintain a legible city, but to offer reference points to the past. Memory, clarity, emptiness, and reflection are offered when spaces that truly exist as "nothing" are allowed stake in the generic city. Vacuum Block is an architectural proposition for spatial muteness in an otherwise cacophonous urban landscape.
